The fox is clever. The pig is obedient. Until they aren’t. One pig at a time. Another subject. A willing one, perhaps. Or just too tired to resist. Pigs remember, though. They learn patterns. They remember the hand that feeds them is the same toxic hand that marks them. What the fox calls healing, the pig calls love. The fox cannot understand why the pigs keep acting the same. The pigs cannot understand why the fox does. Somewhere between leaving and staying, hunting and holding, they begin to trade places—until neither knows anymore whether they are predator or prey.
